Mylets “Retcon” the Taylor Guitar Sessions
Henry Kohen aka Mylets stopped by the Taylor Guitars factory for a tour and a Taylor Session during a stop in San Diego on the Sargent House tour. He picked up a slick sounding T5-12 and performed this acoustic version of his new song, “Retcon.” not to be confused with his album of the same name RETCON.

Echoes And Dust Live Review of Sargent House show in London - August 27, 2013
Where do even start with reviewing a night like tonight? How do you find the words to describe what just happened? Frankly, I’ve no idea, which, let’s face it, isn’t the ideal place from which to write a review.
Let’s start with the facts. The night was a Sargent House showcase featuring And So I Watch You From Afar, TTNG and Mylets in the intimate surrounds of London’s Old Blue Last. Those of you who follow these things will no doubt be aware that ASIWYFA are currently egularly playing to huge arena / festival audiences so the chance to see them in such a small venue promised to be special indeed. As it turned out, ‘special’ doesn’t even come close.
First up was Mylets, the 18 year old guitar / loop pedal prodigy. Now, I’d been hearing a lot of effusive praise for this young man in recent months but this was my first chance to witness him up close and personal. I’ve got to say, nothing anyone said prepared me for the reality of his show. I’ve seen a lot of guitar loop acts in recent times and they are always impressive, don’t get me wrong, but Mylets stands head and shoulders above any that I’ve seen before. Where most proponents of the art create interesting and at times challenging bits of music, Mylets produces songs. Whole songs, where every part of the ‘band’ is mimicked by his dexterous playing. When he started drumming (via a drum machine) and playing guitar at the same time, well…that’s just showing off! What struck me most watching him was that he’s got that wonderfully youthful, innocent ignorance of the fact that he shouldn’t be able to do that. Simply stunning.
This an excerpt from the FULL REVIEW THAT CAN BE SEEN HERE
Henry Kohen, more commonly known as Mylets, has spent the past month in Ireland with his somewhat surrogate family at Sargent House Europe and last night played a storming set at London’s Old Blue Last. When most guys around his age are preparing to hit college he’s about embark on an international tour with label mates TTNG and And So I Watch You From Afar. State caught up with Kohen to talk tour, pedals and his album, Retcon.
Tell us about how Mylets came to be and how you got involved with Sargent House?
Mylets came to be through a mental need to write and perform music in order to function as a person. I had been playing in a band for a few years and when the other members took the path towards a more realistic life, I chose to fully immerse myself in my music. I got involved with Sargent House first as a fan of the bands, then as a fan of the label and what it represented to artists and fans. Cathy [Pellow, Sargent House founder] and I corresponded for about a week over emails and phone calls, ultimately leading to me becoming a Sargent House artist and leaving college in Indiana to live in the Los Angeles office.
Mylets joins TTNG for months of touring European dates starting August 27th
Mylets begins his worldwide trek with TTNG starting in London at a special Sargent House label show on August 27th with And So I Watch You From Afar joining in. They will meet up again with ASIWYFA at Incubate Festival in Tilburg and then again for a seven week long North American tour with all three bands playing together. wow.

STATE Magazine Live Review - Mylets at Indiependence Festival - Cork Ireland
Festival: Indiependence 2013: What State Saw
One bank holiday, three major festivals. But with Oxegen in the throws of reinvention, it was left to Indiependence and Castlepalooza (review coming later today) to cater to indie fans. It wasn’t exclusively guitar-driven, however. Sure, Sargent House had their own stage, which our own Niamh Hegarty found herself camped out by on Friday, but there was some diversity, with the likes of headliners De La Soul (pictured), beatboxer Beardyman and the good folks of Le Galaxie putting off work on a new album in favour of putting in another great festival performance. Here’s what our writers thought…
Mylets – Sargent House / Maxol Big Top, Friday August 2, 2013
Henry Kohen aka Mylets has traveled all the way from LA to be at Indiependence today. This all leads up to a short European tour with And So I Watch You From Afar and TTNG before hitting a Stateside tour with the aforementioned acts. You get the sense that maybe more people aren’t aware of what a treat this is to have him here, but despite the early nature of his set there are still some die-hards up the front. Kohen is a Digitech endorsee and a one man band, he plays guitar live and everything else is generated by his pedals: the synth sounds, bass, drums. This is no easy feat but he pulls it off with confidence.
Onstage, he has no tech, no backing band, and no crew to help him out and yet his presence harnesses the entire stage, reaching out to crowd and even pulling in passersby. An act that may not be entirely well-known yet over here but you get the feeling that’s about to change. Retcon, his debut album generated a hugely positive reaction among spectators with standout tracks ‘Easy 80s’ and ‘Hungover Tehran’ getting a particularly generous applause. He launches into a one man cover of U2’s ‘Even Better than the Real Thing’, and aside from some issues with sound on his vocals (which are out of his control), it’s awesome. Bono, eat your heart out. He’ll be in the Mercantile, Dublin on 9th August. (NH)
